Velvet is a tremendous registered FRIESIAN mare with an excellent pedigree, ideal conformation, and 3 very good gaits.

She is a wonderful Friesian mare of perfect proportions. Velvet is sired by the great Pilgrim, a Bendert X Wypke. Pilgrim will be celebrating his 21st birthday in January, which is of interest, as longevity is obviously in Velvet's genes!! Pilgrim has only 75 offspring ever put on the ground, they are rare indeed! Pilgrim is no longer being used as an Approved breeding stallion, only because he did not have enough offspring on the ground to be approved on offspring. He is currently living the good life, being used as an amazing exhibition stallion in Washington state, at the ripe old age of 21! His offspring are known for their sweet and gentle dispositions. Pilgrim remains one of the USDF leading dressage sires across all breeds. He was one of the only approved Friesian stallions competing here in the US in the early 90s. He has had a long and extremely distinguished career as an exhibition horse. He is now retired in Washington State, and enjoys his status and stardom.

Velvet is currently in foal to Gerryt, who is Approved on offspring and is noted for producing a luxurious horse with a beautiful head, great extension, strong impulsion and a fantastic trot. Gerryt's ability to pass on this combination of performance excellence and stellar character has made him a top breeding stallion, and Gerryt offspring are also hard to find, because his semen doesn't ship well---so they are rare gems! We can't wait to see Velvet's foal by Gerryt! We bought Velvet because we were so impressed by her ability to be a tremendous producer---always easy to get in foal, always has no problem deliveries, producing fantastic offspring, AND her ability to ALSO be a great riding horse!!! Velvet would be an excellent addition to any top notch breeding program, but she is also a super equine partner to use for pleasure/trail riding, or dressage. A tremendous mover, a Friesian mare with classic looks and really amazing cadence to her gaits, it is hard to not notice her outstanding power from behind, and natural elasticity and balance. This mare has a motherline that is VERY productive.

Velvet's comes from stam line 24. This line produced the upper level dressage champion, and Approved stallion, Tetse. Low in-breeding 3.91%.
