I am the proud owner of Evert D. a wonderful 9 year old Friesian gelding I bought from you 3 years ago. He has done very well in dressage, even managing to go to Regional Championships for Training and First level last summer with my trainer. He came in 9th and 10th place in classes with over 35 horses. Thank you for finding me such a great horse!!!

I never thought I would buy a horse off of the internet, but I found your wonderful site and after thinking about purchasing from a private buyer that had no ‘reputation’ at stake; I decided to go with you. Your website is impressive; there are so many testimonials, as well as wonderful descriptions, pictures and videos of the horses, which have proven to be invaluable. I saw Sieberen on your website and fell in love with his pictures and after talking to you about your time riding and handling him, I was convinced that he was the right horse for my me and my family. I purchased him before he was imported and he was delivered from LAX (after his quarantine) directly to me in Northern California! Sieberen is the most wonderful boy ever! He loves my kids and they are riding him more than I get too lately! I have taken him out on the trail, up in the mountains several times now (both by himself and with other horses) and he is just the easiest, best-mannered horse ever! He is extremely smart and so loveable! We just adore him and the entire family wants to get to the ranch every chance we get! Thanks so much for all of your help; and although we didn’t get to meet Sieberen before purchasing him, your input on the kind of horse he was…proved to be invaluable. He is all you said and MORE!
Update...
Just wanted to let you know that Sieberen is a wonderful boy! We thought about re-naming him ‘Houdini’ since he got out of his halter twice in the trailer on the ride up from LA, but we still want to call him ‘Sigh’ since he takes our breath away! Although he was castrated only a few weeks ago, he is very good on the ground (he’s very aware of where I am while I lead him and he takes great care to be careful). My 3 year old daughter just adores him and the first time she touched him on the face he just froze and smelled her little hands with amazement. He watches my children and pays attention to where they are. I believe he will be a wonderful addition to our family. We are overjoyed to have him! Thanks for all of your help and your patience in letting me decide what was best for my family. Having two toddler children, you can certainly understand my concern in wanting to get an older, mature, fully trained lovely Friesian. He is my dream horse!
Update...
It was great to see you at the Santa Barbara Horse Show! That was our first time at a horse show and we had a great time; who wouldn’t in beautiful Santa Barbara! Congratulations on all of the wins…Sieberen is doing great. My children get to be led around on Sieberen in the cool twilight hours. We really do love him; he has such a kind heart…Sieberen is a big black puppy dog! You do have the ‘best’ horses around!
4 years later...
Wanted to let you know how happy we are with Sieberen. My children are riding him by themselves now (6 and 7 year olds). We all love his puppy-dog attitude and what a love his is! Thanks again for finding him.
Update...
We have had Sieberen for over 5 years now and I wanted to send you a note to let you know we still love him so. I wanted to let you know that Sieberen started modeling last year and has had three photo shoots with a few local fashion designers. I am attaching a few pictures...he is a fabulous model who could care less about the flashes and cameras. He poses like a statue! Thanks again for everything, you have made this a very painless process for me. I must say when I told the ladies this morning that I had purchased a Friesian, the very first thing they asked was, "Did you buy him from Black Sterling?" When I said yes, she said she had one of yours..."Harm"? She said she totally LOVES him.
I can't believe how beautiful he is!!! He arrived safe and sound and came off of the truck like a true gentleman. I put him out in one of the turn out pastures this morning and everyone at the barn can't believe how awesome he is.... my barn owner said that he has 'dibs' on him for Halloween, when I looked puzzled at him he said that he just HAD to be Zorro! Harkos is settling in and is such a nice boy and we have had such a good time getting to know each other. ..... thank you, thank you, thank you.
Update.... Harkos is so stunning to look at and I am very happy to report at his very first dressage show last weekend he was entered into 4 Intro classes and took 1 first place (70%) and 3 second place ribbons (65.5%, 66% & 67%) I was very pleased with his performance! He is like riding a big soft couch he has a lovely rocking horse canter!
I am always watching your website and drooling at your fabulous friesians for sale. I have attached a photo from his last show. This time we entered him into Training Level 1 & 2 he scored between 61.57 and a 63.75 taking home two second place ribbons and a third place ribbon, not too bad for his second show! Everyone at the show was drooling over his beautiful presence, he is such the charmer!

This SUPER sweet friesian gelding we imported and sold 4 years ago, helped bring this amazingly successful dressage partnership together (see article in Riding Magazine)...like many of our clients, Gerry's path back to horses began with identifying the Friesian as an ideal type for him. “I read about their nature and strengths and they seem to be very solid horses, calm in nature and not delicate in body or mind, to the point where I’m not easily going to be able to screw him up,” he laughs gently. “I thought it would be a forgiving horse and a great type for me to learn with.” Our 9 yr old friesian,Taling’s, clear talent for dressage triggered the happily fateful partnership with olympic hopeful, Sarah Lockman, that began a dressage odyssey our friesian customer is fully enjoying. Sarah, an FEI dressage trainer and rider, didn’t hang up when a total stranger who knew nothing about the discipline called to ask if she would take on his new Friesian. She said yes to giving it a whirl and fast-forward a few years... Sarah and that Friesian, Taling Van De Oostwal, earned a 73 percent at Prix St. Georges. Sarah is now competing our friesian, Taling, Intermediare 1!

As for my experience, buying a Friesian from Janna .... I have recommended you to numerous people! Both mares were exactly what you had described to me over the phone. Both were of the quality you said they were and both had the temperaments you described. I'm extremely happy with the mare I chose. Should I decide to add a 5th Friesian to my barn ( and we all know how that happens), I would contact Janna and feel I didn't need to go anywhere else. It's nice to know buying a horse can still be a pleasant experience.
Update......
I have to say the mare is far more then I could have hoped for. Somebody put a lot of time into this horse and it really paid off. Even my vet said she's the most well mannered mare he's ever dealt with. HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING SHE ISN'T WILLING TO DO YET. NEXT WEEK WE'RE HEADING FOR THE BEACH FOR A RIDE. THE FOAL IS DOING VERY WELL AND HAS A PERSONALITY VERY SIMILAR TO MY CHOCOLATE LAB. SHE REALLY IS A POCKET PONY.

Cristine Has a New Partner for Life!
I do absolutely adore my big Chocolate Bunny. He is really a sweet treasure. I decided that his true name..." HARKOS" has a kind of dignity and substance to it. I can just read my name and his, in print, winning some sort of horsey award or some such..grin. "Cristine Varney and Harkos, found at last, enjoying themselves off the course exploring a sunlit meadow with wildflowers"..or something like that..smile.
I must confess, finally seeing Black Sterling Friesians in person was really cool. I have been looking at your website for so long. Speaking of which...you have some lovely new beauties offered for sale! You didn't oversell how sweet and friendly he is...Such a huge, big-footed chocolate bunny. I had the privilege of trying my boy in the Netherlands prior to buying him. I received lots of support and encouragement from Janna and Wendy, I told them exactly what I needed to build back up my confidence and they delivered, nothing was too much trouble. This morning he arrived, thank you Nicole,Janna and Wendy for the hand holding. I just keep staring at him, I can’t believe he is mine. He is a dream come true. My new trainer thinks I struck gold!

Thank you, Voit and Wiebe are WONDERFUL!!!
Voit has a sweet tooth; he loves peppermints and sugar cubes. Weibe was not interested in peppermints but he loves sugar cubes. After a day of peppermints and sugar cubes we started giving them peppermint flavored protein treats and they both love the protein treats!
We plan to take the boys to our cabin up north; we have a lot of trails to ride there.

Thank you so much for your help, kindness and your patience with us. We are super happy to have a new friesian in our family. Sven went straight from the Netherlands, to us. He’s very very special. Anyone can see that! In fairytales, i always dreamed of getting the horse, NOT the prince, Sven goes beyond anything i had dreamed of!!! I love him so much already! He is a sweetheart! I bonded with him right away--it’s very hard for me to leave him.. I spend 4 hours with him daily! He is REALLY magnificent and so sweet to groom. Everybody that meets him is falling for him. And he’s a very fast learner! I am amazed how much he likes to see me! He stays with me in the paddock. He is super sweet.THANK YOU!!
Update.... Sven is doing fantastic. I am his number one fan. I can’t imagine my life without him. I wanted to thank you, again for putting him on my path!!!!

Update: Oh my gosh! I love him! I took him on a 13 mile poker ride Sunday. It was so cold like 35 degrees with crazy high winds and he did amazing!! He is a real attention getter! I love the dressage saddle! I'm just so pleased!
When I decided that I was ready to purchase my dream horse, I knew he would be a Friesian. I spent several months looking at horses online and even traveled to see a couple in person. When I found Tariq on the Fairytale Friesian website, I just knew he was the one for me. Janna was so easy to work with, making the whole process run smoothly. She even offered me other Friesians to consider before letting me make my decision final. Tariq has been nothing short of amazing for me.
