Rihanna (now Bella) has settled in perfectly. She acts like she has lived here all her life. We are amazed at how such a gentle, affectionate mare can be such a super charged, super talented show horse. She is a truly unique talent and we will carefully continue to develop her potential in both USDF and IFSHA competition. We and many others have become accustomed to getting great horses from BSF but she is clearly one of the finest horses we have ever encountered.

I year later....

Although you are always getting rave reviews on horses you have sold it is important to give you an update on Sietske (rihanna). As you know we have a lot of experience with high performance horses. When we said that this mare was special we had no idea how special she would soon become. In addition to her stunning 8 major USDF National Championships (no Friesian has EVER done that) she won the IFSHA Senior Mare Dressage Horse in Hand National Championship, The World Amateur Dressage Hack Championship, and the National and World Amateur Show Hack Championships. All of these were unanimous and she was a HUGE crowd favorite. A Dutch group from the FPZ followed us back to the barn after her amazing Show Hack performance and asked us if would be interested in returning her to the Netherlands! Every Dressage judge we showed for this year simply raved about her and all of them said that she was not just a spectacular Friesian but a very special horse of any breed. The point of this is that you and Barend found a simply fabulous horse that is for us truly the horse of our lifetime. We are preparing her for 3rd and 4th level and will be returning her to competition in the Spring...our emphasis has shifted to showing our 3 "Janna Horses" in USDF competition.

Hi Janna, I wanted to tell you that I love Basil. He is great!!!! He is doing great...I have to tell you, you are the most honest horse person to do business with. Basil and I are bonding a lot.The saddle and the other things arrived. I love them.Update... Janna. I want to give you an update. I moved basil to a different barn and They love basil. I had to tell you because basil is wonderful. This new barn manager loves him.

Hi Janna,
I just purchased the black leather bridle from your website.  I'm absolutely thrilled about it and can't wait to get it and try it out. I have wanted to reach out to you and tell you a little about myself and my relationship with one of your Friesians. At 45 years old, I started riding lessons during the pandemic in Rowley, MA, and have fallen head over heels for this boy. I have started this spring riding in his Black Sterling Dressage Saddle. Basil's history is not really known at our barn; it is believed he is 22- 23 years old. The barn manager told me that a South American family-owned him, they did not visit him much, paid the bills for years and they left him behind and went back to their native country at the height of Covid. Basil is like a labrador, the friendliest boy ever, well loved by all. I like to think I am his fairy godmother. I love to spoil him, and in return, he fills my heart with such joy; I have never known a connection to an animal could be so strong.

Thank you for helping me make Judy`s Friesian dreams come true. Our horse arrived safe and sound this morning via Hubbard Transport !!(a class act) Nickolass, or 'Saint Nick', as we are jokingly referring to him, is EVERYTHING and MORE we had hoped for. ...quite the regal gentleman! He walked quietly past our idling car, and matched his pace with mine, walking quietly at my side down the quarter mile drive and stepped nonchalantly into the barn, ~never~ once too forward, or disrespectful of my space. He appears relaxed and laid back, just like you said, not studish at all and he looks fit as a fiddle! He has a `look at me'!~quality to him, and seemed to actually pose for his pictures, vs always trying to 'catch' my others when their ears are forward! He is high gloss black like a licorice strip. I am soooo eager to ride, but it just too frickin' cold right now. We are very very pleased customers of Black Sterling Friesians!

Update... He is a dreamboat & seems to adjusting quite well. He has beautiful fluid movement, and we love his long upright neck. He is a real lover-do! Hi Janna,

Just wanted to update you on a horse I bought a year and a half ago, Famke Fan Morningstar AKA Faxon... Well, she has had about 35 rides on her now, Been in a halter class and is going back to keuring this year! She is coming along quite nicely as a riding horse. I have had about 5 different people ride her (including me) and oh man is she going to be a great horse. We are hoping we are ready for a training level test on her next spring! Here are a few pictures of her working!

Update, 18 months later...
The owner of the stable said, Marco's one of the sweetest horses she's ever been around. His mane is now way past the top of his legs.  Marco is my rock. What a great driving horse, he is.

Tymon and Deena are doing great. They are in a heard of 7 horses out on 1000+ acres. They have learned to swim in the creek/river and where to go when the weather turns. All the horses get along so well....guess it is because there is plenty to eat.

Hi Janna,
just giving you a little update. We are calling him Ambassador ( but at the barn - also Wolfie, long story). He hangs out calmly in his stall.  He has been a very well mannered gent so far and walks nicely in a rope halter.

I love his paces - he is smoother than most in my opinion.

It's a voice...or email from the past. I just thought that I would give you an update. I am soooo in love with Jolanda and I think that she is with me too!! What a special bond we have. This gal has a load of talent. This is truly the best time of my life, or at least it seems so. Everyone loves Jolanda, and I have to say, Jolanda is the PERFECT horse for me. Thank you again for everything.....all my dreams HAVE come true, and its all thanks to YOU! Thank you for doing what you do.
Update....  A voice from the past. I have been thinking of you and all of your beautiful horses since we have had the incredible joy of owning Jolanda. I am riding her 2nd level and just started trying her with flying changes.. Soooo many people have fallen in love with her, she is incredibly special. Even though we have never met I always felt a very close friendship with you through our emails, maybe that is a wonderful trait that you have with people, but I surely enjoyed it and am hoping to meet you at some point. Jim and I have been talking about another Friesian, I can only imagine getting one from you. I think of you and how you have given me the opportunity of owning an incredibly beautiful and wonderful horse every time that I ride Jolanda.  I feel that I have a pretty good sense of people, and I KNOW that you are VERY SPECIAL. Janna, you have a gift, the Friesian's need you as well as the rest of us. You look as though you are one with these incredible horses. The horses that you have chosen and introduced to this country are indeed OUTSTANDING. I am really looking forward to meeting you, hopefully sooner than later.

Hi Janna! Wanted to send you and update and some pictures of Tango! (note, name change.....we found Wybren fan 'e Hameren to be a mouthful :-) He has settled in and is the hit of the barn. He learns extremely fast, is a pleasure to work with and definitely has a desire to please. And you got to love that Friesian mind. He has come so far in just 10 or so days that I can't imagine where he will be in a year from now. Thanks again for our wonderful new family member.

Other BSF horses:

Jip is doing very well in the show arena so far this year. He is such a cool horse. Zorro is going better then I ever thought he would.  It really was a treat to see that under saddle he is very sensitive. I showed Magnifiek ( all BSF  friesians!)  a few times this summer and he did really well, but I can't stand showing training level anymore. What a bore, so Magnifiek stays home until he is about 3rd level and then we will have fun!!!!! Good luck at the shows.
